CornWhat is it?

A corn there is a discrete area of thickened skin (hyperkeratosis) known as a heloma and they can occur pretty much anywhere on the foot but are most of seen on the toes or ball of the foot.

What causes it?

Similar to a callous a corn is caused by excessive friction and pressure and this is normally due to the foot rubbing against the shoe.

What are the symptoms?

Normally pain at the affected area?

What can you do at home?

First of all have it removed by a podiatrist.

Seek advice on footwear.

We don’t advise the use of corn pads.

How is it treated?

The corn is enucleated.  It is a very simple procedure which is normally pain free.
